First quarter totals are in. The Environmental Science class collected 1,428.5 pounds of recycling since the beginning of the year. Students pick up from the recycling containers every Tuesday and Thursday morning.  Last year 6,458 pounds of recyclables was collected. The Environmental Science class took over the school's recycling program during the 2015-2016 school year.  Under the guidance of Mrs. Ebel, they picked up all the recycling from each classroom twice a week and we were able to recycle 7067 pounds during the initial year; that is over 3.5 tons!

Items that Central Lyon collects, that are not included in the town's recycling program, include single use alkaline batteries, coffee pods, candy wrappers, and incandescent light bulbs. Look for special boxes for these materials. New this year are containers in various classrooms for old markers for to recycle. The rooms included are Mr. Huisman, Mrs. Dittsworth, Mrs. Sieperda, Mrs. Kahl, Mrs. Snyders, and Mrs. Ebel.
