Second Graders Learn About the Phases of the Moon

Central Lyon 2nd grade students learned about the different phases of the moon this week in science.  Mr. Pytleski, our STEM teacher, brought in Oreo cookies to help us get a better understanding of the different phases.  We learned that it takes about 27 days for the moon to go around the Earth.  Although the moon seems very bright, it does not make its own light. We see different parts of the moon's sunlit surface as it orbits the Earth. The moon is boiling hot during the day and the nights are freezing cold.  Thanks for sharing your knowledge and cookies with us, Mr. Pytleski!
