Middle School choir is open to all students in grades 7 and 8.  They rehearse on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon during 6th period (12:40-1:23).

Women:  Black or grey dress or skirt-it can have a pattern on it or a little color.  Please keep the dresses and skirts to mid-thigh length.  Nothing short!  Black and white patterend dresses are fine as well.  Black pants are also fine with a white top.  A little color or a pattern to the shirt is fine.  Wearing a colored scarf also works.  Ladies may also wear leggings as long as they are wearing a skirt or dress that goes to mid thigh length.  No shirts with writing!  No jeans or tennis shoes!

In the fall, students in grades 5-8 may audition for one of the OPUS honor choirs.  The audition process is simple but requires a small time committment from the students.  Each student must be able to sing a scale, the first verse of America and a small selection of one of the honor choir songs.  If a student is selected, they must learn five songs and then they travel down to Ames in November to rehearse and perform with hundreds of students from around the state.

In late November or early December, students may choose to audition for Swing Choir. This is a group that sings and dances.  You do not have to be a good dancer to joing swing choir!!  It is something we learn together in the process of singing the music.  This group sings pop music from all generations and performs on the Swing Show in March.

There are many high school basketball games in December, January and February and they are always in need of singers for the National Anthem.  Students may choose to sing the National Anthem as a soloist or in a small group.  They will need to work with Mrs. Langholdt a few times before performing.

If students are regular church attendees, their churches may ask them to perform.  Students need to talk to Mrs. Langholdt and she can help students find music and recordings to use for performing at their church services.
