Quiz Bowl is a buzzer game where two teams (made up of 3 to 4 players) compete head-to-head to answer questions from all areas of knowledge, including literature, math, science, fine arts, religion, current events, sports, culture, and a whole lot more!
We meet on Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. in Mrs. Ditsworth's classroom in the Middle School Hallway. We travel to four different meets around Northwest Iowa and participate in an online event in the Spring.
“Quiz Bowl is one of those things that a lot of people hear about and initially go “ew”, mostly because you hear about different knowledge bowls or academic decathlons and immediately think that it is a bunch of know-it-alls all together in the same room. Although that may be true for some schools, it is not true for us. The Central Lyon Quiz Bowl team is all about having fun together while answering random trivia questions. You will get kids from all sorts of social cliques and teams joining quiz bowl. We have lot of fun together and even get donuts every Wednesday morning for practice. I have absolutely loved being on the quiz bowl team these last four years and highly recommend that more people try it out.” ~ written by senior Emma Baker
