Central Lyon Community School District
The Central Lyon Community School District serves PK-12 students from Doon, Rock Rapids, and surrounding area in one building located in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Rock Rapids is the county seat of Lyon County, has a population of 2500, and is located 55 miles west of the Iowa Great Lakes and 35 miles east of Sioux Falls, SD.
The mission of the Central Lyon Community School District is to provide an education and the opportunity for all students to become productive, life-long learners. CLCSD students were identified as high performing by the Iowa Department of Education in 2019, while the average ACT score for members of the Class of 2019 was 23.9 – more than 2 points better than the state average. Central Lyon competes in the Siouxland athletic conference and offers outstanding fine arts opportunities along with a host of co-curricular programs for students of all ages.
