Civil War

In Civil War we will analyze the causes of the war, important differences between the Union and the Confederacy, key battles, military strategies, and the outcomes of the United States’ most deadly war.

Stock Market

In Stock Market class students will study investing in the stock market by simulated buying and selling of individual stocks or mutual funds. Students will also learn about other investment opportunities presented by banks and the bond markets as well as personal finance skills.

Holocaust

Students will take an in-depth look at what the Holocaust was, why it happened, and how it happened through the examination of novels, film, and supplementary resources.

Holocaust Daily Schedule and Syllabus

State and Local Government

Required for all students before their senior year. 

This class is offered both online and in the standard classroom setting. Students will learn the functions of the legislative branch, executive branch, and judicial branch while also learning the basic principles of state constitutions. Students will also examine the responsibilities and functions of county and city government. A special emphasis will be placed on how things are done in the state of Iowa, Lyon County, and the city of Rock Rapids.
