Jazz Band

Central Lyon Jazz has qualified for the annual state festival several times since jazz band's inception in 2003. The 2018 Jazz Band earned the highest place to date (second) at the state at the Iowa Jazz Competition, class 1A.

"I have been involved in Jazz Band all four years of high school. It's a fun addition to being in band because you get to go to competitions against other schools. I feel like the competition pushes us to become better musicians. You also get to play different instruments from regular band. Mr. Langholdt takes it seriously, but he still has fun with it. That's what Jazz band and music is all about, fun "
