When Will I Ever Use This?

The question I hear most often from students every year is, "When are we ever going to use this?"  Usually, it's asked by exasperated students in the middle of learning a challenging concept, but it's certainly a valid question.  I did some research and found a few nice websites that provide some information on the topic.

The Mathematical Association of America has a page devoted to career paths available to those who choose to major in mathematics.  Click here to find out more.

WeUseMath.org is an interesting site that offers a look at math-related careers (and their lucrative salaries), a "Did you know?" section, and some advice on how to succeed in math.  Enjoy!

The Central Lyon Community School District offers career and technical programs in the following areas of study: Business Education, Family & Consumer Sciences Education, Industrial Arts Education and Vocation Agriculture Education. It is the policy of the Central Lyon Community School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, creed, age (for employment), marital status (for programs), sexual orientation, gender identity and socioeconomic status (for programs) in its educational programs and its employment practices. Inquiries or grievances may be directed to the Superintendent, Central Lyon CSD, 1010 S. Greene St., Rock Rapids, IA 51246, (712) 472-2664, superintendent@centrallyon.org.
