Welcome

During my tenure at Central Lyon I have been fortunate with opportunities to teach students at various levels from kindergarten through eighth grade.  Each level and group of students is unique and rewarding.  I have transitioned out of a classroom teacher and into the role of an Instructional Coach in the area of math.

My role allows me to do two of my favorite things…work with students and assist colleagues.  I help teachers with math resources along with building continuity in the subject of math from grade level to grade level, including working with middle school and high school math instructors.  I facilitate the FAST math assessments three times a year. I meet with teachers to discuss the results of these assessments to determine which students, if any, are missing some skills or have gaps in their mathematics understanding. Then we work to fill those gaps while working to deepen the learning for all students.

My goal is to support building students' understanding of mathematics while finding enjoyment in doing math. I enjoy practicing math by playing games. Most games provide a fun way to practice lots of math and you can explain the math you know.  Explaining the math shows an individual's understanding while also showing that there may be different ways to come to the same answer.

Let's work together to help your student in their mathematical journey,

Stephanie Baker
