Advisor Mrs. Ditsworth

Mrs. Ditsworth

Large Group Speech advisor is Mrs. Ditsworth, who also teaches seventh grade English. During her first year advising in 2021-2022, she had nine high school students performing in three different categories (short film, improv, choral reading), including two freshmen who joined this year. Mrs. Ditsworth reports that practices are going really well! One thing that surprised Mrs. Ditsworth is that there are only two competitions for the year. Students perform at districts and then if they get a rating of "I" they advance to state. Judges at state competition recommend the best groups for all-state honors.

Large Group Speech helps prepare students for public speaking and learning how to compromise to make the team better.  Those who have performed in the past have been supportive of the new students who are competing for the very first time. Mrs. Ditsworth is excited to see the growth of each team. There are two categories that require original works - short film and group improvisation.
