Feed the Farmers

For area grain farmers, “Operation: Feed the Farmer” is the day in November when they can expect a visit from a Central Lyon FFA chapter member. Students pack and deliver, typically more than 200 sack lunches of sandwiches, chips, cookies and water, to farmers at area elevators and in the fields. “It’s just one small way we can help them,” said FFA member Cameryn Van Holland. “This is a big help to us, so we don’t have to stop to get lunch,” said one farmer as an FFA member offered him the meal.

Farmers are welcome to grab a lunch for themselves and anyone else involved in their harvest operation including those running the combine in the field or those hauling grain to the elevator. FFA members also will also deliver lunches to local businesses who support grain farmers.
