I have been teaching at Central Lyon since 2008.  I graduated from Simpson College, located in Indianola, IA, in 2008.  There I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Music K-12.  I am very excited to be returning to Central Lyon!

Originally, I am from Stewartville, MN just south of Rochester, MN.  I currently live in Rock Rapids with my husband Matt, or Coach Deutsch, a PE teacher and coach at Central Lyon, and our yellow lab Finley and cat Alex.  In my spare time I enjoy training/running marathons, cooking/baking, bow hunting, fishing, skiing, and reading.

I have always had a passion for teaching and knew at a young age that I wanted to become a teacher.  It wasn't until my high school band director introduced music education to me that I considered teaching music.  However, music education runs in my family.  My grandmother was a music teacher in the Worthington area and a clarinet player just like me.  In fact I was named after her.  I strongly believe that a music education positively affects all other areas of study.  Music education improves and enhances the lifestyle of each person it touches.  It is because of these reasons and my passion for teaching that I look forward to working with my students each and every day.

Music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom.  If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn.  -Charlie Parker
