Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Head Start offers a FREE 3 & 4 year old preschool program if you qualify. Head Start offers education activities, health resources, nutritious meals and family support. 

Mid-Sioux Head Start centers are located in Akron, Cherokee, Ida Grove, LeMars, Orange City, Rock Valley, Rock Rapids and Sioux Center. A Child Development Program (CDC) is also located in Hawarden. Transportation is provided in most areas.

Your child will leave Head Start more prepared for Kindergarten, excited about learning, and ready to succeed!

A FREE preschool program for 3 & 4 year olds - Head Start and the Child Development Center/CDC provides (Spanish Version):

  • Healthy meals and snacks
  • Services available to children with disabilities
  • Family and social service resources

 

A FREE family resource program for pregnant moms and children up to the age of three - Early Head Start provides:

  • Weekly home visits year round for home based families
  • Center based services offered in LeMars and Sioux Center
  • Opportunities for socialization
  • Medical and dental support
  • Services available to children with disabilities
  • Family and social service resources
