Fire Safety
This morning the Rock Rapids Fire Department greeted our elementary students as they arrived for school in honor of Fire Safety week. We practiced a school-wide fire drill and then the 2nd grade-4th grade students met members from the RRFD and the Lyon County Ambulance on the playground. They divided the grades in to three stations and shared with them all about their jobs, gear, equipment, and emergency vehicles. They reminded the students of reasons they may need to call 9-1-1 for emergencies and also encouraged them to have their parents check their smoke alarms once a year. The children were very excited to climb inside the fire trucks themselves. Each student received a book to share with their families about how to keep making smart choices for life. We would like to thank all of the men and women on the Rock Rapids Fire Department and the Lyon County Ambulance who volunteer their time to keep our communities safe! We also want to give a very special shout-out to all of the parents who are volunteers and were able to be with us with today.
