Deputy Minor Visits 2nd Grade
Today we invited Deputy Minor into our classrooms to talk with all of our 2nd graders and share more about his job as our School Resource Officer. Having been in the community for many years, Deputy Minor recognized a lot of faces and names. Everyone had lots of questions for him about his job as a police officer as well as questions about his family. He talked about what he had to do to become a police officer as well as how his reason for wanting to become one has changed over the years. He shared that at first he thought it sounded like a fun job, but has since realized that he really enjoys this career because he likes helping people. Deputy Minor reminded our students about the school emergency plan that CL is implementing again this year, which we have discussed and practiced as well. He shared a great video with us called, 5 Minutes, 5 Actions: The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) by The "I Love You Guys" Foundation. He passed around his handcuffs for the children to look at and talked about all the equipment on his vest. We feel very lucky to have Deputy Minor as our SRO at CL and appreciate him taking the time to come meet everyone today.
